Summertime for most families is full of great memories and fun, but unfortunately this time of year is also when a lot of injuries and accidents can occur…
According to the CDC, drowning is the deadliest accident for kids ages 1 through 4. They also say that every year the United States treats 200,000 children ages 14 and under for playground related injuries.
Here are some suggestions for a safe summer:
- Watch your children at all times when they’re in the water or running around the playground
- Make certain they wear a swim vest at a young age or if they are not great swimmers
- Research summer camps thoroughly before sending your child to one
- Keep children away from hot grills and make certain all food is cooked properly
You can find additional summer safety tips here and here.
Of course, the reality is accidents can happen no matter how many precautions you take. If you or a family member are hurt due to neglect on the part of a third party (i.e. summer camp, lifeguard, etc.), you may need to enlist the help of a local personal injury attorney.
